Marshall County Community Foundation administers a number of scholarships, from traditional awards for graduating seniors to those geared towards current students, professionals, and other special circumstances.

Each scholarship has its own application guidelines, deadlines, and application process, so please be sure to read the instructions of the scholarship you’re applying for carefully.

John Glenn High School Scholarships

We administer a number of scholarships, which range from the traditional academic and athletic awards to corporate and special circumstances offerings. 

Applying for a scholarship is free, so we invite you to spend some time finding opportunities for which you are a good fit. You can learn more about each scholarship by clicking on each of the below scholarship titles. 

Scholarship applications through the Marshall County Community Foundation will open Monday, December 1, 2025 and will close on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Alvin C. Boise Memorial Scholarship
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a John Glenn High School senior with a preference for a student/s involved in 4-H and/or those pursuing studies in agriculture or education. 
  • Subject to the distribution policy of the Foundation, a minimum $300 scholarship is to be provided.
  • Preference will be given to students in need. 
  • Qualifying students must submit with their application an essay describing the teacher who most influenced them.
  • This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a John Glenn High School graduating senior who is also a male athlete. 
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.
  • This scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more graduating seniors from John Glenn High School who plan on attending an accredited technical, two-year, or four-year institution.
  • A 2.75 minimum GPA is required.
  • This scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more graduating seniors from John Glenn High School who plan on pursuing an academic degree in the science field. 
  • A 3.5 minimum GPA, community participation, 2 letters of recommendation, and an essay are required.
  • Jacob (Jake) Ryan Pletcher was born in Plymouth, Indiana, October 6,1979, and unexpectedly passed away May 11, 2022, at the age of 42. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1998. He excelled academically and participated in football, basketball, track, and also was involved in show choir and theater. He graduated from Purdue University and IU Medical School. Jake served over 13 years in the Navy and during that time married his wife, Aditi, and has two beautiful, young children. 
  • Dr. Jacob Pletcher served as a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist and lntensivist in San Jose, California. He was a devoted supporter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation and Little Angels Service Dogs. Jake also served on the Board of Directors of the Veterans Commission and was a member of the California Medical Association.
  • Jake was a life-long learner and inspired residents and fellow physicians through his mentorship and love of teaching. He encouraged others to pursue higher education and push themselves to live life to the fullest. LIVE LIKE JAKE!
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduates of John Glenn High School, Walkerton, Indiana. 
  • Recipients must intend to major in Visual Arts, which may also include graphic design or teaching of Visual Arts. 
  • The scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications are met.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a graduate of John Glenn High School. 
  • The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 but not to exceed a GPA of 3.5. 
  • The recipient must attend an Indiana College or University. 
  • Recipient must have held part-time employment during their high school career for a period of one or more years.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior. 
  • The applicant must complete an application and an essay of 150-250 words explaining how the applicant plans to use their degree/educational experience to make a significant contribution to agriculture. 
  • The applicant must also submit a brief autobiography, a copy of their high school transcripts, SAT scores, ACT scores, GPA, and Class Rank out of how many total students.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduates of John Glenn High School. 
  • Recipient must have earned a high school cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  
  • Recipient must intend to major in science, mathematics, or higher learning located within the State of Indiana.
  • The purpose of the fund is to award scholarships to graduates of John Glenn High School who pursue a degree program at an accredited four-year college or university, a junior college, or a trade school. 
  • The scholarship selection shall be based upon a student’s written application, judging academic achievement, citizenship, and financial need. 
  • As long as a recipient maintains a 2.5 grade point average (based upon a 4.0 system), the scholarship may be renewed until the recipient graduates. 
  • However, the scholarship may not be awarded to any recipient for more than four years.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior. The applicant must be a graduating senior.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a resident of Polk Township in Marshall County, Indiana, and a graduating senior at John Glenn High School, Walkerton, Indiana. 
  • Scholarship selection shall be based on need, grades, and community service. 
  • The scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications are met.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior. 
  • The recipient of the scholarship shall attend John Glenn High School.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior majoring in agriculture. 
  • The scholarship is to be given annually subject to the foundation’s payout policy.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior residing in Marshall County.
  • The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to graduates of John Glenn High School located in Walkerton, Indiana. 
  • Scholarship recipients must be residents of Polk Township located in Marshall County, Indiana. 
  • Scholarship recipients must be pursuing a post-secondary degree in education, preferably in elementary education
