Volunteers to Count Homeless Families in Marshall County

Point-in-Time Count to occur county-wide January 24

The Marshall County Community Foundation and United Way of Marshall County are working with the local faith community, the Grace and Peace Alliance, Ministerial Association, nonprofit agencies, the Beaman Home, businesses and volunteers to conduct a survey to collect data on homelessness and housing insecurities in Marshall County.

The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people on a single night in January.

Families and individuals who’ve relied on the County Trustee, churches or charities to help them stay housed month-to-month are asked to participate in the survey. Persons facing eviction, who rely on couch surfing or feel they are forced to reside in an unsafe space are encouraged to make their voices heard.

Do you know someone who fits those descriptions? Please tell them about this important count. Accurate data on how many families struggle with housing will empower the community at large to respond in the best way to serve the families in need in the county.

Participants may go to the survey locations and times listed below on January 24. Specially trained volunteers will be at each survey location to help in the simple, quick process.
