Build Community Funds Through Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Gift VIII
Lilly Endowment Inc., an Indianapolis-based private philanthropic foundation founded by members of the Eli Lilly family, is providing an exciting match – GIFT VIII – to help Marshall County build our Community Funds.
From now through December 31, 2025, Lilly Endowment Inc. will match all gifts to MCCF Community Funds with two dollars for every dollar we receive, up to $750,000.
What are Community Funds?
Unrestricted endowment funds — we call them Community Funds — are the most flexible and responsive funds at MCCF in addressing current and emerging needs. Grants from these funds support needs in these areas:
- Recreation
- Environment
- Arts and education
- Building quality of life
- Health and human services
The first grants from unrestricted funds at MCCF were awarded in 1995; since then MCCF has awarded nearly $5.5 million in total grants to the community from these funds alone. The growth of unrestricted funds now enables MCCF to award more than $290,000 in unrestricted fund grants on an annual basis.
As the MCCF Community Funds grow, so does the power to support innovative and collaborative projects working to make Marshall County a better place to live, work and play.

How the Match Works
Make a gift or an irrevocable pledge payable to any of MCCF’s Community Funds before December 31, 2025. Irrevocable pledges must be paid in full by December 31, 2027.
- Lilly Endowment Inc. (LEI) will match that gift with $2 for every $1, tripling its value.
- As a bonus, MCCF will give a 20% match of your gift to any permanent endowed fund at MCCF. Learn more about the MCCF Match here.
For example, your $1000 gift will earn a $2000 LEI match plus a $200 match to the MCCF endowed fund of your choice — a total benefit of $3200 to support Marshall County communities!
How to Give
There are several ways to submit your donation to the Gift VIII fund:
- Give online by credit card
- Give by check, noting “GIFT VIII” in the memo line. You may stop by during office hours (Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm) or mail a check to PO Box 716, 2680 Miller Drive, Suite 120, Plymouth, IN, 46563
Gifts of IRA assets, appreciated stock, or life insurance are welcome. Discuss various giving options with your financial planner or have them contact us at (574) 935-5159.
Ready to Give?
When you give to MCCF’s Community Funds before December 31, 2025, Lilly Endowment Inc.’s GIFT VIII grant will match that gift with $2 for every $1. MCCF will then provide an additional 20% match to the MCCF endowed fund of your choice. That means your donation more than triples!
