Investing in the Scholars of Marshall County
Marshall County Community Foundation administers a number of scholarships, from traditional awards for graduating seniors to those geared towards current students, professionals, and other special circumstances.
Each scholarship has its own application guidelines, deadlines, and application process, so please be sure to read the instructions of the scholarship you’re applying for carefully.
All Marshall County Scholarships
We administer a number of scholarships, which range from the traditional academic and athletic awards to corporate and special circumstances offerings. These scholarships are open to all residents of Marshall County, as long as other requirements are met.
Applying for a scholarship is free, so we invite you to spend some time finding opportunities for which you are a good fit. You can learn more about each scholarship by clicking on each of the below scholarship titles.
Scholarship applications through the Marshall County Community Foundation will open Monday, December 1, 2025 and will close on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Beverly E. Falconbury Memorial Scholarship
- The purpose of this fund is to support a scholarship to a graduating senior from:
- Argos High School
- Bremen High School
- Culver High School
- John Glenn High School
- LaVille High School
- Plymouth High School
- Triton High School
- Scholarship applicants must intend to major in mathematics at an accredited two-year or four-year public or private institution of higher learning.
Breanna Lemler Scholarship Fund
- Provides one or more annual scholarships to Marshall County high school seniors — specifically students graduating from Argos Community Schools, Bremen Public Schools, Culver Community Schools, John Glenn School Corporation, Plymouth Community Schools, Triton Community Schools or Union-North United School Corporation.
- A preference of a student who is involved in athletics, 4-H or has an agricultural background. Also, students who are contestants in the Triton Junior Miss Program.
- Include a 250 word maximum essay including background, educational goals and any other information that might be helpful to the scholarship committee.
Brian Liechty Theater Production Scholarship Fund
- This scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more graduating seniors in Marshall County or St. Joseph County who are planning to pursue a course of study in the production of performing arts.
Build North Central Indiana Scholarship
- The purpose of this scholarship is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a student and/or graduating seniors from a high school, home school, or alternative school in Marshall County. Students living in counties adjacent to Marshall County are also eligible.
- The Build Marshall County Scholarship is for a graduating senior or student with an interest in pursuing a career in the trades and attending or studying at a trade school.
- Preference will be given to providing required tools for class participation. Living expenses may be considered as needed.
Chad Edward Pearson Memorial Scholarship Fund Benefiting the Knute Rockne Kiwanis Club
- The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to students selected by the Knute Rockne Memorial Kiwanis Club.
- The applicant must be a graduating senior maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Clarence and Bonnie Shaffer Scholarship
- The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for students who are affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church in a significant manner and who are pursuing a post high school education in the fields of ministry, music ministry, or education.
- Preference for scholarships will be made to first year undergraduate students in the three areas stated above, but if no student has applied, then undergraduate as well as graduate students will be considered as long as they meet the criteria.
Culver Young Farmers Agricultural Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a student pursuing studies in the fields of agricultural studies.
- The Culver Young Farmers Agricultural Scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients, subject to the recommendation of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications are met.
Dr. Christie L. Peterson Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of this scholarship is to provide one or more annual scholarships to help Marshall County disadvantaged youth — preferably between the ages of 16 and 21 — learn how to make a living by learning a trade.
- Preference will be given to children of foster parents.
- A high school diploma is not a pre-requisite for receipt of this scholarship.
- The scholarship may be awarded for secondary or post-secondary courses.
- The Dr. Christie L. Peterson Scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients.
Dr. David R. Barkmeier Top Research Universities Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of this fund is to provide one or more scholarships to students who are enrolled at a top university, specifically a member institution of the Association of American Universities (AAU) or the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
- The applicant must be a graduate from a high school in Marshall County, Indiana and be able to establish Marshall County, Indiana as their primary residence.
- This scholarship is renewable to previous recipients at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications have been met.
Eldon D. Shafer Memorial Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of this fund is to support a scholarship to a graduating senior from:
- Argos High School
- Bremen High School
- Culver High School
- John Glenn High School
- LaVille High School
- Plymouth High School
- Triton High School
- Scholarship applicants must intend to major in mathematics at an accredited two-year or four-year public or private institution of higher learning.
G. Ernest and Bernadine Rightley Scholarship
- The purpose of this fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from a school corporation with a physical presence in Marshall County.
- Applicants must be a Marshall County resident and graduating senior entering their first year of study at an accredited college or university.
Indiana University Alumni and Friends of Marshall County Scholarship
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual need-based scholarships to a resident of Marshall County and a graduate from a high school located in Marshall County attending Indiana University.
- The recipient must have a B- or GPA average of 2.7 or better on a 4.0 scale and must be involved in two or more volunteer or extracurricular activities.
- The Indiana University Alumni and Friends of Marshall County Scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications have been met.
Jim Blount Memorial Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduates of Bremen High School, Bremen, Indiana, John Glenn High School, Walkerton, Indiana, LaVille Jr-Sr. High School, Lakeville, Indiana, or Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Indiana.
- Recipients will use the scholarships to help fulfill educational needs in the vocational trade and technical career areas.
John Ruff Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to students (children or grandchildren) whose families are currently policyholders with the Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of St. Joseph and Marshall Counties.
- Students applying for the scholarship must be graduating from an accredited high school or trade school.
- The scholarships will be used to fulfill educational needs to post secondary education to include four year institutions, two year institutions, and vocational trade and technical career areas.
- The John Ruff Scholarship Fund is not renewable annually to previous recipients.
Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
- This program is designed to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana, increase awareness of the beneficial roles Indiana community foundations can play in their communities and encourage efforts of Lilly Endowment Community Scholars to engage with each other and with state leaders to improve quality of life in Indiana.
- The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is administered by the Independent Colleges of Indiana and includes significant participation by the community foundations serving each of Indiana’s 92 counties.
- Key Elements of the Program:
- Full-tuition, required fees and book stipend for four years. (Does not pay room, board or travel expenses.)
- Recipients may attend any public or private, Indiana four-year college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Applicants must have a high school diploma from an Indiana high school accredited by the State Board of Education or by a national or regional accreditation agency that is recognized by the State Board of Education.
- Applicants must be residents of the state of Indiana.
- Recipients must pursue undergraduate study in a baccalaureate program on a full-time basis.
- Eligibility:
- High school seniors who are Marshall County residents, with a minimum SAT score of 1200 or ACT of 26, and in the top five of their class are eligible.
- Applicants must plan to pursue a full time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private university in Indiana.
Marohn Family Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide annual scholarships to students from schools (Plymouth High School, Triton High School, Culver High School, Bremen High School and Argos High School) within Marshall County Indiana.
- The scholarships will be used to help fulfill educational needs in the vocational trade, and technical career areas.
Marshall County 4-H Horse & Pony Scholarship
- The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a participant in the Marshall County 4-H Horse & Pony project.
- The applicant must be a graduating senior and must have completed the 4-H Horse & Pony project in the year of application.
- Completion includes exhibiting a horse/pony at the Marshall County 4-H Fair.
- The applicant must submit the following:
- A completed application including an essay as to why the applicant believes he/she needs/deserves the award
- A referral from high school guidance counselor
- A high school transcript
- The recipient must attend a trade, technical, vocational, two- or four-year college or university.
Marshall County Farm Bureau Agriculture Scholarship
- The purpose of this fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to any graduating senior or any non-high school senior residing in Marshall County, Indiana entering at least a full-time freshman year of undergraduate studies in an agricultural program or in agricultural classes.
- The scholarship recipient must submit proof to the Community Foundation of successful completion of the first semester/trimester in order to receive the scholarship.
- This scholarship may be renewable to previous recipients.
McKinnis Vocational Scholarship Fund
- This scholarship will be awarded to one or more Marshall County graduating high school student(s) who will be attending a vocational trade or technical career school.
Michael Paul Haag Family 4-H Beef Scholarship
- The Michael Haag 4-H Beef Scholarship Program will provide funding for one scholarship per year to a 10 year 4-H Beef member of Marshall County. The program will provide one scholarship for $500 to an applicant that he or she furthers their education for post secondary education. This can include a four-year institution, two-year institution and vocational trade and/or technical school. The applicant will be selected by the committee appointed by the Michael Haag family, which will include at least one member of the Michael Haag family, one member of the Marshall County Beef Committee, and the acting Beef Superintendent of Marshall County.
- Eligibility:
- The applicant must be a 10 year 4-H Beef member of Marshall County.
- The applicant must be a graduate of an Indiana state accredited high school.
- The applicant must be accepted as a full time student to a four-year college, two-year college, vocational trade school and/or a technical school.
Ounce of Prevention Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduates of an accredited high school located in Marshall County, Indiana.
- Recipients must be a survivor of cancer, have an immediate family member or friend who experienced cancer, or have demonstrated active participation in community service related to the prevention or cure of cancer.
Purdue Alumni Club of Marshall County Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a Marshall County resident(s) attending Purdue University.
- All graduating high school applicants that apply for the Samuel Elliott Perkins IV Memorial Scholarship Fund will be considered for the Purdue Alumni Club scholarship as well. The deadline would be the same deadline as the Perkins application. Please fill out the Samuel Elliott Perkins IV Memorial Scholarship application to be considered for the Purdue Alumni Club of Marshall County Scholarship.
Samuel Elliott Perkins IV Memorial Scholarship
- The Samuel Elliott Perkins IV Memorial Scholarship was created through an estate gift from Mary Collins Perkins in memory of her husband for the purpose of providing scholarships to Marshall County resident students pursuing a degree from Purdue University.
- The amounts of scholarships and the numbers of winners will depend on the number and quality of applicants. Additional money will be available in the following years. Students reapplying for a scholarship should note the eligibility requirements.
- Eligibility Criteria
- Senior graduating from Marshall County, Indiana High School or homeschooled with a Marshall County residence.
- Must be accepted and plan to attend Purdue University as a full-time student (any campus) in the fall semester following high school senior graduation.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher (high school transcript must be provided) OR minimum SAT score of 1050 or ACT score of 22.
- The scholarship is non-renewable, although students may apply each year.
Thomas Clark Gibson Memorial Scholarship
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to Marshall County area students, including those attending Marshall County schools that are cross-country districts, and attending Marian University’s Ancilla College and studying nursing.
- The Thomas Clark Gibson Memorial Scholarship is renewable annually to previous recipients at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee as long as all other recipient qualifications are met.
Tony and Mary Wood Scholarship
- The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship(s) to attend Ancilla College for a resident of Marshall County or an adjacent county who is recommended by Heart and Hands, Inc.
- Should Heart and Hands, Inc. cease to exist, then the Marshall County Community Foundation may partner with another not-for-profit organization dedicated to the educational development of immigrants to Marshall County or may administer the scholarship themselves.
Tony Ross Memorial Scholarship
- The purpose of this fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are residents or are attending schools in either Marshall County, Indiana or Starke County, Indiana who are pursuing a career in broadcasting.
- This scholarship may be renewable to previous recipients.
Walter A. Glaub/Marshall County Industrial Association Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a graduating Marshall County high school senior(s) living in Marshall County, Indiana.
- These scholarships will be applied toward expenses at any accredited college, university, trade, or technical school during the coming year.
- The Walter A. Glaub/Marshall County Industrial Association Scholarship fund is not renewable annually to previous recipients.
- Submit your completed application to the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce at 120 N Michigan St, Plymouth, IN 46563.
The 3 C's Scholarship Fund
- The purpose of the fund is to provide at least one scholarship to a senior from Bremen High School and at least one scholarship to a senior from an Indiana High School located within a forty mile radius of Bremen.
- If funds are available, a total of three $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded each year. The scholarships are non-renewable.
- The applicant must be:
- A graduating senior from a public or private school during the current year
- Be active in the school/community
- Have a minimum GPA equivalent to a 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale.
- Have completed six athletic seasons during high school as an athlete, trainer, manager, cheerleader, etc.
- Applicant must complete a scholarship application, submit an essay, and provide references and an official high school transcript.
