Dr. Jacob Ryan Pletcher Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Selection Criteria:

This scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more graduating seniors from John Glenn High School who plan on pursuing an academic degree in the science field. A 3.5 minimum GPA, community participation, 2 letters of recommendation, and an essay are required.

Jacob (Jake) Ryan Pletcher was born in Plymouth, Indiana, October 6,1979, and unexpectedly passed away May 11, 2022, at the age of 42. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1998. He excelled academically and participated in football, basketball, track, and also was involved in show choir and theater. He graduated from Purdue University and IU Medical School. Jake served over 13 years in the Navy and during that time married his wife, Aditi, and now has two beautiful, young children.

Dr. Jacob Pletcher served as a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist and lntensivist in San Jose, California. He was a devoted supporter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation and Little Angels Service Dogs. Jake also served on the Board of Directors of the Veterans Commission and was a member of the California Medical Association.

Jake was a life-long learner and inspired residents and fellow physicians through his mentorship and love of teaching. He encouraged others to pursue higher education and push themselves to live life to the fullest. LIVE LIKE JAKE!
